2010 Green Car Survey say 75% of Consumers Considering a Green Car in the Next 2-5 Years

Autobytel just released a “What’s Hot” report that will leave any green car out there blushing. It’s because Americans want them. Yes, the same Americans that were buying SUVs in droves just back in the 90’s have now turned their attention to alternative fuel vehicles.  Just take a look at these findings:

  • 55% are considering a green vehicle within the next 12 months
  • 75% reported either intend or might consider purchasing a green vehicle in 2-5 years
  • $3.50 per gallon is the breaking point at which most consumers want to purchase a green car

Who stands out among this crowd?  It’s the <25 year olds, aka Generation Green. This group remembers the sting of the Gulf disaster the most and it shows in their numbers.

  • 73% are considering a green vehicle within the next 12 months
  • 82% reported either intend or might consider purchasing a green vehicle in 2-5 years

This is some encouraging news for the industry… now let’s get those green cars rolling off the line!
