The New York Times is reporting Nissan will be marketing the upcoming all-electric Leaf through social media. The Leaf gained notice about a month ago after self reporting a whopping 367 mpg figure, a claim released hours after Chevrolet gained international spotlight by announcing the Volt’s 230 mpg. Both releases caused a media frenzy and brought to light the absolute necessity of a fuel economy standard for electric cars needed to be determined by the EPA.
Nissan USA has posted a video on the Leaf’s battery on YouTube which can be seen below:
So far the Leaf is boasting some impressive stats:
- 100 mile range per charge
- 80% charge in 26 minutes at quick charging stations
- Planned iPhone app to monitor the battery, turn on AC/heat
- Drive by wire steering
