Nissan's All-Electric Leaf Launching via Social Media

created at: 2009-10-13

The New York Times is reporting Nissan will be marketing the upcoming all-electric Leaf through social media. The Leaf gained notice about a month ago after self reporting a whopping 367 mpg figure, a claim released hours after Chevrolet gained international spotlight by announcing the Volt’s 230 mpg. Both releases caused a media frenzy and brought to light the absolute necessity of a fuel economy standard for electric cars needed to be determined by the EPA.

Nissan USA has posted a video on the Leaf’s battery on YouTube which can be seen below:

So far the Leaf is boasting some impressive stats:

  • 100 mile range per charge
  • 80% charge in 26 minutes at quick charging stations
  • Planned iPhone app to monitor the battery, turn on AC/heat
  • Drive by wire steering

So…stay tuned to YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook for upcoming news on the Leaf. It's just one of the many upcoming green cars we’re excited about!
